Three modules, one integrated pipeline

Field Measurement

Trained field technicians extract stratified soil cores at standardized depth intervals (0–30, 30–60, 60–90 cm) across enrolled acreage. Samples follow chain-of-custody protocols from extraction through certified laboratory analysis using LOI and Walkley-Black methods. Sampling density: minimum 1 composite sample per 40 acres.

Remote Sensing

Sentinel-2 SWIR1 (1610nm) and SWIR2 (2190nm) band reflectance data — combined with Landsat 9 OLI2 thermal infrared — is cross-correlated against ground-truth samples to build a field-calibrated spectral model. Revisit frequency: 5-day Sentinel-2 repeat cycle provides continuous SOC monitoring between sampling campaigns.

Verification Engine

An ensemble ML model trained on the USDA SSURGO Iowa/Illinois soil survey dataset and validated against NRCS direct measurements integrates field and satellite data into a final SOC estimate with 95% confidence intervals. Outputs: registry-ready credit package, methodology disclosure, and permanent chain-of-custody record.

Output file formats

Baseline Report

PDF + structured JSON with all sampling locations, lab results, and spatial metadata.

Monitoring Dataset

GeoTIFF satellite time-series + CSV tabular SOC estimates by depth and location.

Credit Package

Registry-formatted submission file + methodology disclosure + uncertainty statement.

Registry integration layer

Terrabit output is formatted for compatibility with the leading voluntary carbon standard registries. Compatibility means methodology alignment — not pre-certification.

Methodology aligns with VM0042 (Improved Agricultural Land Management). Output files formatted for VCS project description and monitoring report submission templates.

Gold Standard

Soil Carbon Activity

Methodology compatible with Gold Standard Soil Carbon Activity requirements including additionality assessment, leakage calculation, and permanence risk disclosure.

CAR

Soil Enrichment Protocol

Aligns with Climate Action Reserve Soil Enrichment Protocol v1.1 sampling methodology, depth interval requirements, and baseline calculation approach.
